#6 More Flickr Fun

I'm not so sure how much fun this exercise has been, or perhaps I just haven't the patience to sit for hours exploring Internet tools. I found it necessary to remind myself of my goal, which is to inform myself of developing technologies. I can't help but think any more time spent at the computer is likely to result in a repetitive strain injury. The phrase "get a life" also springs to mind as I look out the window. A glorious day which invites a walk in the forest, the lawns to be mown or even sitting down under a tree in the back garden with a library book.

However, one tool I might be useful is the Yahoo trip planner which I will explore further when I commence planning a holiday later in the year.

Memories of Donegal in the rain.

#5 Discovering Flckr

Found exploring Flickr very interesting. Initially thought the idea of sharing oneself with the world rather self indulgent. However, I now think it might be a useful tool for sharing those historical photos, hidden in granny's little box, with the rest of the family. In fact, had I explored Flickr before commencing this program I might have chosen a different theme. But for now it is "Grannies"

#3 Grab yourself a blog in 3 steps

Yippee. A blog has been created.

#2 Lifelong Learning

Ironically I received this in an email a few days ago, just as I was being given a lecture by my 10 year grandson on computer techniques.

THE COMPUTER SWALLOWED GRANDMA

The computer swallowed grandma.
Yes, honestly its true!
She pressed 'control' and 'enter'
And disappeared from view.

It devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus
Or been eaten by a worm.

I've searched through the recycle bin
And files of every kind;
I've even used the Internet,
But nothing did I find.

In desperation, I asked Jeeves
My searches to refine.
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found 'online.'

So, if inside your 'Inbox,'
My Grandma you should see,
Please 'Copy,''Scan' and 'Paste' her
And send her back to me.

#1 Discovery has never been so much fun...

Well the journey has commenced, and while I'm sure of the goal, which is to increase my knowledge of emerging technologies and how they might impact on the library profession, I'm less certain I will be able to display sufficient creative abilities for this exercise to be of interest to anyone else but moi
